Last night I met El Roberto at Tio’s Cerverceria

To celebrate Friday night, we decided to follow Time Out’s suggestion for the hottest bar of the month: Tio’s welcomed us for the start of the weekend.

Finding the place its not easy and even at 6PM a couple of people were queuing in front of a banal door in Surry Hills. The inside is quite unusual though with an industrial-style hangar but a wooden bar which is bound to remind you of the stereotypical beach bar in South America. Decoration its well thought with strange dogs (or monkeys) statues.

The most stylish part would have to be the barmen: shaven heads, furnished beards, fashionable glasses and impressive sleeved tatoos on both arms and necks. Ours was friendly and happy to answer questions about the cocktails.

On his recommendation we all went for El Roberto a tequila based mixture including apple and cucumber. Absolutely delicious and they also offer free popcorn in brown paperbag the perfect touch for a relaxed holidays atmosphere.

Had a great time! Only regrets: no outdoors area, very dark interiors and stools were not the most comfortable… Please Tio’s, we’d love to sit on the sand while some rebel guitarist would serenade us during sunset!
